About me
My name is Kayla Green. I'm currently a multimedia journalist at WIVB/WNLO-TV News 4 in Buffalo, New York. I'm a 2018 graduate of SUNY Brockport and hold a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Broadcasting with a minor in graphic design. I'm from Cheektowaga, New York.
I loved everything about media at an early age. I was the kid running around with a camera filming myself and my family. I taught myself how to edit video at age 10, and I've been writing stories for as long as I can remember.

Before starting at News 4 in June 2021, I launched my career at News 8 WROC-TV in Rochester, New York in January 2019.
During my time at News 8, I covered topics ranging from the Rochester City School District’s money troubles, to the flooding on Lake Ontario, to high-profile court cases regarding police brutality, and of course, most recently, COVID-19. Being a journalist during the pandemic has also shaped me into the reporter I am today, with each day being an opportunity to find a new, fresh angle the public is interested in.
I also worked on investigative stories during my time at News 8. I investigated a youth pastor accused of sending inappropriate messages to children, a Rochester police officer accused of pulling a gun on a woman in a road rage incident, the suspicious finances of a local charter school, and a funeral home overcharging people for services they weren’t providing. I also broke the story about the firing of SUNY Brockport’s Chief Diversity Officer, and the narrative that unfolded regarding allegations of discrimination by top administration. These stories helped broaden my horizons and showed me how to dig deeper; something reporters don’t always get the luxury to do in between day-turns.

I truly found my path in this huge world of media during college. I joined The College at Brockport's campus television station, Talon Television, and nothing was the same again. I fell in love with television and all parts of it.

In the summer of 2018, I had the privilege of interning at CNN Newsource in Washington D.C., where I learned from some of the best journalists in the business. Being in the heart of news in our nation's capitol only reaffirmed and ignited my passion for journalism even more.

I love storytelling because we get to tell the stories of those who may not have a voice to do so. I love meeting new people and hearing what they have to say.

No matter where I end up, I'm committed to keep working hard and taking advantage of as many opportunities as I possibly can.
